The bicycle trails throughout the city provide an excellent and safe way to see the city, especially the riverbank trails. Full review by Pablo H

My wife and I went for a ride and took this trail as opposed to our usual trek in South Eugene. There was a surprising number of camps just off the trail and we noticed several syringes when we walke… Full review by PygmyLlama

Greatest trail around! Open, spacious, and breathtakingly beautiful at nearly every turn. Easy, mild ride or walk. Stay right and give plenty of heads up when passing on the left. Bridges, waterways… Full review by H8096PMrebeccae

We are staying at the Fairfield Suites in Eugene/Spring. Does the bike path go from there to the downtown area? The map on the hotel web site is not very specific. Can I assume that we can get to some of your microbreweries that way - either in or outside of the downtown area? Thanks!

From the Fairfield Suites, bike west. Shortly after going under I-5, take the bike bridge across the Willamette River to the north shore. Follow the bike trail about 3.5 miles to Alton Baker Park and cross back over the river on the Peter DeFazio bridge. Pick up the Ruth Bascomb bike trail and proceed west along the river again. When you get to Skinner Butte Park, you are in the Market District just north of downtown. Follow Cheshire Avenue west a couple of blocks to Washington Street and turn left (south) to get downtown. If you are interested in the breweries, turn right (west) off Washington at 1st Ave and go west maybe 9-10 blocks to Van Buren Street. Turn left (south) and go maybe 3-4 blocks. You'll see the Ninkasi Brewery & Tasting Room on your right. You are now deep in the heart of the Whiteaker neighborhood. There are other breweries in this area. I recommend Sam Bond's Garage for a great brew and a decent lunch. From Ninkasi continue south a couple of blocks and turn left at Blair Blvd. Sam Bond's is a couple of blocks down on the left. If you have an internet connection, go to Google maps and type in Fairfield Inn and Ninkasi or Sam Bond's (for example). There are other ways of traveling between the 2. For my money, the bike path is great, but Eugene is very bike friendly, so don't worry too much about using the streets. Hope this was helpful.

I had my own bike, so I didn't need to rent, but I agree will all the other comments about this. Eugene is very bicycle friendly and there are many shops in town that will rent. Best way would be to google it. It will also depend on where you enter the bike trail, which spans several miles, running by the Willamette River.
Q:
Where are the entrance points for the bike trail?
A:
My favorite is at Aspen Street in Springfield. There's a sweet little park there with a parking area. Other access points include Alton Baker Park and behind Valley River Center in Eugene.

I love the fact that this is a bike town. We're coming up to visit University of Oregon next month and want to enjoy biking around the trails and stuff, but I'm wondering if there are bike rental places in town? I really don't want to drag our bikes up from San Diego, so I'm wondering if we can rent them there.
