Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer made a telling statement on where he feels the QB position is headed in Tuscaloosa.

Jason Jones is now on staff for the Tide, helping coach defensive backs alongside Maurice Linguist, who largely focused on UA’s cornerbacks last season. He’s one of two additions to the staff, along with Chuck Morrell, who got a promotion to inside linebackers coach.

MOBILE, Ala. — Kalen DeBoer knows Alabama football has to be better. Standing outside of Hancock Whitney Stadium for the 2025 Senior Bowl, the Alabama football coach harkened back to his expectation for the Crimson Tide when he first took the job: to perform at a championship level.

DeBoer spent time with the media in Mobile and addressed the future of his coaching staff, particularly as it pertained to hiring former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb.

Kalen DeBoer’s first season as Alabama football’s head coach didn’t meet expectations. There’s plenty of places where a nine-win season and a bowl appearance would be cause for celebration under a new coach, but Tuscaloosa isn’t one of them, especially after Nick Saban’s tenure.

No one, including HC Kalen DeBoer, was happy with how the 2024 season went for the Alabama Crimson Tide. But many in the fanbase were already about to jump ship following just one season under his guidance.

Kalen DeBoer's first season as Alabama's head football coach is widely believed to be a major flop when looking at it from the "Bama Standard" Nick Saban set.
