According to Pearce, Mazda decided to change its logo after 28 years to create a look more friendly to the smartphone era.

UPDATE: AutoGuide first discovered Mazda's trademarked logo in July of 2024. Mazda has officially confirmed the new emblem will soon be put into use—shifting toward a simpler, more modern aesthetic.
