Al-Shabab militants have stormed a central hotel in Somalia's capital Mogadishu, with witnesses saying that the assailants fired indiscriminately after they forced their way into the premises.

Hospitality company Rotana has partnered with the investment firm Riverside Holding to develop its first luxury hotel Mogadishu Rotana in Somalia. The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
