The Simpsons are almost 40 years old and the voices of some of the actors are giving out. The Beatles are gone. Carlin is gone. The world moves on and more art comes in to replace it. Things change.

The episode then offered some clichéd ideas of how The Simpsons could end, including Principal Skinner’s retirement, Moe’s shutting down and the death of Mr Burns.
