A weekend brawl at a Dallas national cheerleading competition sent thousands of teens and parents running for their lives when the scuffle sparked false reports of an active shooter, police said.

The DPD did say that many people suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the mass exodus from the convention center. Though there was no active shooter, the loud bang from the poles falling down was convincing enough for cheerleaders and their families to run for their lives – causing a dangerous stampede.

An active shooter has been reported at the Kay Bailey Convention center/Omni Hotel in Downtown Dallas during the NCA Cheerleading competition. Terrifying footage on social media shows hundreds of people running fro the center.
