MIAMI - After remaining in a certain range for months, Florida gas prices have ticked up. Since early September, the state's average has mostly hovered between $2.99 and $3.15 a gallon.

The average fuel price in state has risen about 14 cents since last month. According to the EIA, gas prices across the state in the last year have been as low as $2.93 on Jan. 22, 2024, and as high as $3.54 on May 6, 2024. A year ago, the average gas price in Florida was 4% lower at $3.03 per gallon.

Several North Florida areas are averaging less than $3 a gallon as the region remains the cheapest to get gas in the state, in some places about 25 cents cents less per gallon than South Florida. Naples and Palm Beach County are among the most expensive areas for gas.

West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3.37), Naples ($3.29) and Homosassa Springs ($3.27) have the most expensive gas in the state. Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($2.90), Panama City ($2.92) and Pensacola ($2.94) have the cheapest.

Average prices have exceeded $3.20 per gallon since mid-January. Sunday’s per-gallon state average of $3.22 was 3 cents more than a week ago, 11 cents higher than a month ago, and 5 cents pricier than this time last year, according to AAA — The Auto Club Group.

Florida drivers are feeling the pinch at the pump as gas prices continue to rise. After months of relative stability, the state average has climbed above $3.20 per gallon, marking a noticeable increase for motorists.
