Manhattan commuters are already marveling at what appears to be less traffic — and grousing about the new $9 tolls.

For most drivers, it will cost $9 to enter Manhattan's Congestion Relief Zone during peak daytime hours. The peak hours are from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.

Monday marked the first weekday that thousands of drivers in New York paid congestion price fees when entering parts of Manhattan. Passenger vehicles will now pay as much as $9 to drive past 60th Street during peak hours.

The program had defied many obstacles over the course of decades. It debuted over the weekend on what seemed to be a successful first day.

Driving into Manhattan's core will cost you more as of 2025 — but thanks to riding advocates, motorcycling remains comparatively affordable.

The NYPD is stationing officers at Central Business District entry points with patrol cars looking for illegal or obstructed license plates.
