Downtown Akron Partnership is hosting the fourth annual Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 3:30 to 8 p.m. at the Akron Civic Theatre.

The Akron RubberDucks will be known as the Akron Galley Boys for a couple of games this season. The name “galley boy” refers to the hamburger cooks who work in small galley kitchens, but it’s also known locally as the famous double hamburger from Akron’s own Swensons Drive-In.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - The Emergency Overnight Shelter saved dozens of people Sunday evening from the cold. A total of 56 people spent the night at the shelter located at 111 East Voris St. and woke up to a warm plate of breakfast and a hot cup of coffee.
