On Florida’s east coast, offshore Nassau and Volusia counties, an ongoing cold-stunning event has harmed about 120 green sea turtles so far. While that’s far fewer than the hundreds rescued off the Panhandle, it’s the most stressed turtles the state has documented in Northeast Florida, according to the wildlife agency.

A diver who passed out after resurfacing was rescued when fellow divers pulled him to a boat off the Florida Panhandle, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. The 36-year-old man was listed in stable condition after being taken to shore by a Coast Guard boat, the USCG said in a Jan. 27 news release.

A non-profit organization in Panama City is caring for over 150 sea turtles affected by cold shock. The turtles are being gradually warmed up by three to five degrees each day to prevent further shock. This effort is part of a larger initiative to protect and rehabilitate sea turtles in the area.
"With freezing temperatures and possible snow forecast in Northwest Florida next week, FDOT crews are preparing bridge deck sprayers, snow plows and other equipment and are ready to serve to keep Florida's highway system safe and operational in all types of weather conditions," a post from FDOT District 3 said.
From Pensacola to Jacksonville, snowfall was reported ranging from inches-deep to a light dusting. A whopping 9.8 inches was recorded in Milton, Fla. a city about 23 miles northeast of Pensacola. In nearby Molino, 9.5 inches of snow was recorded.
