MS, Chairman of the Armed Service Committee, praised Pete Hegseth as an “unconventional” candidate for secretary of defense. Wicker waived away accusations of misconduct, while citing numerous of letters of support written for Hegseth.

Wicker did not specify what day the vote would take place, but said it could be as late as next Thursday if Senate Democrats do not allow the chamber to speed up the confirmation process.
