A truck driver has been convicted in the kidnapping and death of a sex worker from Dallas after killing her and dumping her body in the woods. The charge carries an automatic life sentence.

A young woman’s life was cut tragically short, her last moments likely spent in terror,” Acting U.S. Attorney Chad Meacham said.

Family members have identified the victim as 25-year-old Caleigha Zangari, a U.S. Army veteran from San Diego, California. They say at some point she became a victim of sex trafficking and ended up in Dallas as a sex worker.
