TVA believes the region's power grid will need to grow to maintain energy security for its seven-state region.

"What we're building at Bull Run is not a science project," an executive from the Knoxville-based nuclear fusion company said.

TVA made a buyout offer late last year to employees across the company before the Trump administration made its sweeping offer.
