Lyft stock was rising Monday after the company revealed that it would launch self-driving robotaxis in collaboration with Mobileye “as soon as 2026.” The ride-hailing company plans to bring fully autonomous robotaxis powered by the Mobileye Drive system to its app as early as next year.

Lyft says it will launch a fleet of robotaxis, using self-driving technology from Intel’s Mobileye, in Dallas in “as soon as 2026,” with plans to scale to ”thousands” of vehicles in additional markets in the months to follow. To signal its seriousness, the company tapped Marubeni, a Japanese conglomerate, to run fleet operations.

Riding-hailing company Lyft Inc. is reportedly set to launch a fleet of robotaxis powered by Mobileye Global Inc. by 2026 as the company seeks to compete with similar emerging services from the likes of Uber Technologies Inc. and Tesla Inc.

Lyft has confirmed that its first robotaxi fleet will launch in 2026 in partnership with Marubeni and with Mobileye's tech.

Lyft, the ride-hailing service, plans to bring robotaxis to the platform in Dallas as soon as 2026 with other cities to follow.

Japanese conglomerate Marubeni will own the fleet. Lyft faces pressure to compete with Uber, which has inked a long list of driverless vehicle deals.
