Vietnam's National Assembly on Wednesday approved raising the economic growth target for this year and backed major infrastructure projects, including a rail link to China and the construction of the country's first nuclear power plants.

HO CHI MINH CITY] Vietnam’s parliament on Wednesday (Feb 19) voted to revise the country’s official growth target for 2025 to at least 8 per cent, from the range of 6.5 to 7 per cent approved last November.

Lawmakers approved a new growth target for 2025 of at least 8% proposed by the government, an increase from the previous goal of 6.5% to 7.0%

The project is expected to reinforce the already strong economic linkages between northern Vietnam and southern China.
