A lottery player from out of state turned $5 into a $1 million prize with a ticket sold at a Florida Wawa. The New Yorker has now claimed her jackpot winnings, the Florida Lottery announced Feb. 5.

TALLAHASSEE -A Miami woman won a two million-dollar prize playing the Florida Lottery 's 100X The Cash scratch-off game. Virginia Alvarez chose to receive her winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $1,280,000.

The Florida Lottery announced on Friday that Stephen Nagy claimed a $2 million top prize from the 100X The Cash scratch-off game. Officials said Nagy bought his winning ticket from a Publix at 4173 South Tamiami Trail in Venice. With a 1-in-3.49 chance of winning a prize, Nagy was able to turn $10 into $2 million.

Stephen Nagy, of Venice, beat odds of 1 in 3,313,314 to win $2 million in the 100X The Cash game, the Florida Lottery said in a Jan. 31 news release. The scratch-off game launched Jan. 15, 2024, and Nagy got a top prize for matching all the right numbers.

The winning numbers: 9-12-15-28-36. The winner hit the jackpot in St. Cloud, a roughly 30-mile drive south from Orlando. The lucky ticket was sold at a store called A Discount Beverage, the Florida Lottery wrote on its website and in a news release.
