LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Six Kentuckians died due to the winter storm that swept through the commonwealth. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said a woman from Spencer County died from an injury related to the storm, and five men — from Oldham, Franklin, Boone and Breckinridge counties — died due to injuries or medical emergencies.

LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56) — A winter storm made its way across the Ohio Valley from Jan. 5-6, with snow and sleet totals ranging from 6-12 inches across northern Kentucky and southern Indiana, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). In addition, the NWS said Kentucky saw 0.25-0.75 inches of ice.

The National Weather Service issued an updated winter storm warning at 10:38 p.m. EST on Tuesday valid from Wednesday 7 a.m. EST until Thursday 1 a.m. EST for Leelanau, Benzie and Manistee counties.

A winter storm warning was issued for the Columbia area of South Carolina where snow and freezing cold temperatures are expected Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. A winter weather advisory was previously scheduled to go into effect for Richland and Lexington counties,
