Health officials in Gaza say a Palestinian man was killed and seven people were wounded by Israeli fire overnight.

Israel let tens of thousands of Palestinians go back to northern Gaza for the first time since the early weeks of the 15-month war with Hamas​, under terms of a fragile ceasefire​.

Tens of thousands of displaced Gaza residents ended months of exile in temporary camps and began returning to what was left of their homes on Monday after Israel opened a corridor into the north of the battered enclave.

The corpses keep coming every day, sometimes dozens at a time brought to morgues in the Palestinian enclave, after being pried from under 15 months of rubble and pulled from battle zones long too dangerous for search-and-rescue teams to reach.

Israeli troops fired on people trying to return home to southern Lebanon and delayed a return home for northern Gaza residents. Israel blamed Hezbollah and Hamas.

Israel and Lebanon agreed to extend their ceasefire until Feb. 18 to give Israeli troops more time to withdraw, the Trump administration said Sunday, while a Gaza dispute with Hamas over a hostage was resolved.
