Some of Houston’s finest were seen taking a break from calls and engaging in a snowball fight Tuesday morning. The city of Houston took to X to post a video of city firefighters and police officers laughing and enjoying the snow between calls.

A rare, historic snowfall blanketed parts of the southern U.S. on Tuesday, allowing residents to play in the rather unusual weather. Families went snow tubing in Houston. People made snowballs and snow angels. People were even seen skiing on Bourbon Street.

A historic winter storm blanketed much of Southeast Texas and Houston in heavy snow and ice. Accumulating snow and dangerous road conditions will linger through the entire day Tuesday and a hard freeze is expected through Wednesday morning, according to Chronicle meteorologist Justin Ballard.
