Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) slammed Florida lawmakers for ending the special session he ordered and convening their own. DeSantis called the Florida legislature to meet in a special session to begin supporting President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida House and Senate openly rebuked Gov. Ron DeSantis’ call for a special session on immigration Monday by defiantly rejecting his slate of bills, then adjourning and immediately regrouping to consider alternative legislation approved by their leaders.

Even as DeSantis called the new bill "weaker," legislative Republicans pushed their legislation through the committee process Monday.
