Dec 9, 2022 · OCEARCH’s study of white sharks in the western North Atlantic has advanced through 24 different science projects in collaboration with 42 scientists from 29 research organizations, making these the most comprehensively studied white sharks in the world.
Penny – White Shark | OCEARCH Shark Tracker
Penny is our 92nd white shark tagged in the Western North Atlantic and our 4th during Expedition Northbound. She is named after our friends at Salty Penny Canvas in Morehead City, NC. They have helped our team with custom marine canvas projects that provide a more comfortable experience on the water and allow us to operate in tougher conditions.
Ironbound – White Shark | OCEARCH Shark Tracker
Ironbound is named after West Ironbound Island near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. He is the 53rd white shark SPOT-tagged by OCEARCH in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean.
Anne Bonny – White Shark | OCEARCH Shark Tracker
Anne Bonny is our 90th white shark tagged in the Western North Atlantic and our 2nd during Expedition Northbound. She was named after the notorious female pirate that frequented the waters around Cape Hatteras in the early 1700s, near where she was tagged.
Cabot – White Shark | OCEARCH Shark Tracker
Cabot is a 9’ 8”, sub-adult white shark. Our partner SeaWorld named him using suggestions from Nova Scotians after the explorer John Cabot.
