Rabbi Oser is married to Dr. Rachel R. Oser who, in addition to her career as a science educator, is active in the Jewish community. She organizes monthly classes for women, tutors adults in Judaism, meets with Bat Mitzvah girls, and is involved with the Hong Kong Mikvah.

The Ohel Rachel Synagogue (Chinese: 拉結會堂, Hebrew for "Tent of Rachel") is a Jewish congregation and synagogue, located at 500 North Shaanxi Road, in the Jing'an District of Shanghai, China. Built by Sir Jacob Elias Sassoon in memory of his wife Rachel, it was completed in 1920 and consecrated in 1921.

In 1883, he built the Ohel Leah Synagogue in Hong Kong in honor of his mother and in 1920 he built the Ohel Rachel Synagogue in Shanghai in honor of his wife. In many ways he was eternally connected to East Asia, or Hong Kong and Shanghai at the very least, through these synagogues.

Their generosity was not limited to India: in Hong Kong, where David Sassoon first set up a branch in 1844, Jacob Sassoon built the Ohel Leah Synagogue, today the oldest surviving synagogue in Asia, in memory of his mother, Leah Sassoon.
